Bauchi Governor Sought For The Support Of Health Workers On Health Care Delivery

Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi state on Tuesday evening appealed to Health workers to support his administration in a bid to provide citizens of the state with effective and efficient healthcare services.

The Governor made the apppeal when the officials of the Bauchi State Branch, Nigerian Medical Association visited him at the Council Chamber, Government House Bauchi.

Governor Bala Mohammed said financing and administrative framework are some of the key tools for overcoming the numerous challenges in the health sector and welcomed partnership with critical stakeholders to ensure the advancement of the sector.

“We have a lot of challenges in the sector and because of the challenges of decided to declared state of emergency in the sector with a strong commitment to overcome the challenges.”

He said the state government has taken measures to provide the needed facilities to Health personnel to ensure effective service delivery beneficial to the citizens of the state.

The Governor told the officials of the association on the commitment and determination of his administration to provide functional primary healthcare centres across the state before the end of his administration.

In a remark, the Chairman of the Association, Dr Adamu Sambo noted with satisfaction, the foresight and commitment of the state government towards the provision of effective healthcare services to the citizens through total renovation and construction of healthcare facilities.

He declared the support of the association to support the present administration to flush out ghost Doctors in the state’s payroll and overcome shortage of man power in the sector.

“I will like to start my address by commending His Excellency, for declaration of state of emergency on the Health sector and it is indication that the administration is ready to provide citizens with healthcare services.”

The Chairman stressed the need for regular training and retraining of health workers to enable the state government achieve its objectives in the health sector and improve service delivery.

Gov. Emmanuel Announces Commencement Of MEGP Training For Batch III

As part of efforts to address some concerns of youth in Akwa Ibom State and forestall unrest, Gov. Udom Emmanuel has announced the commencement of the third batch of capacity building initiative, My Entrepreneurship Goal Programme (MEGP).

Gov. Emmanuel in a State wide broadcast, Friday October 23, 2020, in reaction to the violence that erupted in Uyo a day earlier, caused by hoodlums acting as #EndSARS protesters, announced that MEGP will resume for the third batch, to train another set of start ups and young entrepreneurs on basic business skills.

“My‭ ‬Entrepreneurship‭ ‬Goals‭ ‬ ‭ ‬Programme‭ (MEGP) will start next week, which is another bold and decisive step taken by Government to provide needed education and skills ‬in entrepreneurship, so‭ ‬our ‭ ‬youths may‭ ‬use‭ the ‭skills acquired to create job for themselves”, he said.

The Governor through the Directorate of Marketing & Brand Management (Office of the Governor) had since 2018, initiated the programme to provide a free platform for budding entrepreneurs in the State to acquire needed business education and exposed to opportunities for business support, strategic partnership, mentoring and market linkages. The programme has so far churned out two batches of beneficiaries.

According to the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Marketing & Brand Management, Mr. Ime Uwah, MEGP is a typology of a business school that runs every quarter of the year. He stated that the batch III of the programme, was slated to commence by March this year, but was regrettably stalled by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. However the participants that will be attending the programme by next week, are those qualified after the pre-qualification interview carried out early this year.

The MEGP has exposed young Akwa Ibom entrepreneurs to avenues for business financing like grants and loans, as well as create an ecosystem of like-minded teams to share ideas and build mutual support system, Uwah stated.

He pointed out that with key partners like Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), the over two hundred young entrepreneurs in the State that have been fully trained and certified, are well equipped to grow businesses and function in many capacities relating to entrepreneurship.

The SSA further noted that the programme is an interpretation of Gov. Emmanuel’s vision to grow a productive population of young people who will hold economic pillars of the State, this is in line with the State Government completion Agenda on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. (MSMEs)

Gombe Keys Into Federal Government’s Appeals Programme

The State Deputy Governor, Manassah Daniel Jatau has again stressed that the state is blessed with vast agricultural resources that is capable of transforming the lives of the people.
The Deputy Governor gave the indication when he hosted the Chairman and Members of Agro Processing, Productivity, Enhancement and Livelihood Improvement Support( APPEALS) Project, Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Abuja on a courtesy visit in his office.


The Deputy Governor, noted that the rich agricultural endowments, if put to use, can transform the Lives of the citizenry, and give them a better livelihood.
He commended President Muhammadu Buharis initiative of APPEALS project, describing it as a welcome development, pointing out that the state government has already keyed in to the program, as the Governor has already signed the letter of commitment.
Manassah Daniel Jatau explained to the APPEALS Officials that the administration of Governor Muhammad Inuwa has deliberately prioritize health, education, and agriculture sectors, in view of their roles as basic components of human needs and development.
He further explained that, the state has three dams in Dadinkowa, Balance and Cham, an expanse of rich agricultural land,adding that, the administration has embarked on network eleven hundred and the industrial park all in an effort to make maximum use of the inherent potentials for the betterment of the lives of the people.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman, APPEALS, Federal Ministry of Agriculture, FCT, Abuja, Alh. Mohammed Njobdi, said their visit was at the instance of the Federal Minister of Agriculture, as a follow-up to the expression of interest shown by Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya for Gombe to participate in the APPEALS Program.
He said, part of the requirements was for the officials to visit and interact with state officials as well as make field visits to processing sites, among others, which, according to him, is the reason why, the committee is in the state.
The Chairman, further explained that APPEALS is an acronym for Agro Processing, Productivity, Enhancement, And Livelihood Improvement Support, a program that aims at enhancing agricultural Productivity and ensuring value addition.
He also explained that the project has already started in six states in the country and Gombe State has been included in the next twelve states that shall benefit from the project.
In his remarks, the Commissioner of Agriculture, Alh. Mohammed Magaji Gettado stressed that the prospect of the project in the state is very high, viable and bright towards enhanced and sustainable agricultural growth.
The Commissioner outlined the derivable benefits to include among others, boosting small and medium scale industries,and provision of employment to the teeming youths for socioeconomic development.
Alh. Gettado said Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya has already signed the document of commitment in demonstration of his resoluteness to take the state to greater heights.

Gov. AUF Receives FCT Minister on Visit, Commends Level of Peace in Adamawa

Mallam Musa Bello, Hon Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has visited Governor Ahamadu Umaru Fintiri,AUF, of Adamawa State.

During the visit, Mallam Musa Bello who hailed from Adamawa State, Commended Governor Fintiri for the prevailing peaceful atmosphere in the state despite the spread of the #EndSARS protests in the country.

Muhammad Bakari Tukur, Senior Special Assistant to AUF on New Media, in a statement on Friday said “the minister commended Governor Fintiri’s handling of the protest in a thorough manner unlike other states.”

Responding, Governor Fintiri commended the Minister and his team for the visit saying “my administration has outlined alot of measures through which the excesses of the #EndSARS protesters will be checked.”

The Governor saluted Adamawa youths for holding a peaceful protest in the state.

He frowned at the protest and how it resulted to violence and destructions of lives and property in some states.

He encouraged youths in Adamawa to learn how to channel their grievances through proper channels for appropriate actions to be taken.
